Martha Funnell is an Associate Research Scientist of Learning Health Sciences at the University of Michigan Medical School, as well as an Adjunct Lecturer at the University of Michigan School of Nursing. She received her MS in Nursing from the University of Michigan School of Nursing. Martha Funnell is an internationally known diabetes nurse educator. Ms. Funnell provides content expertise related to diabetes patient and health professional education, patient empowerment, a collaborative approach to diabetes care, and culture-specific and community-based interventions through collaboration, consultation, training, curriculum development and the development of other tangible materials. Her primary research interests are in the areas of patient empowerment, diabetes self-management education and psychosocial support.
