Lauren Hayes

Lauren Hayes, Ph.D. is an Assistant Professor in Anthropology at Wayne State University, College of Liberal Arts and Sciences. She received her PhD in Anthropology from The University of Arizona in 2017. Dr. Hayes’ interests fall broadly into the areas of the anthropology of work, gender, globalization, language, and ethnographic approaches to workplace culture. Her research focuses on the ways that individuals adapt to precarious economic and work conditions, new technology, and workplace reorganizations. Currently, Dr. Hayes is conducting research in the Appalachian region of the United States, which centers on high tech manufacturing and other tech-based workforce development projects.
