Dr. Kevin Joiner is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Health Behavior and Biological Sciences at the University of Michigan School of Nursing. He received his PhD in Nursing from the University of California, San Francisco, and his MS in Nursing from the University of Wisconsin, Madison. Dr. Joiner’s research centers on the prevention of type 2 diabetes, improvement of health outcomes of type 1 and type 2 diabetes, and the development of self-management support interventions particularly in families from disadvantaged populations. He is currently working to develop and pilot test a Spanish-language prediabetes self-management support intervention that is sensitive to issues that tend to recur across US adults who self-identify as Hispanic or Latino.
