We focus on enhancing understanding of the relationship between the social and physical environmental determinants of health, and translating that knowledge into public health interventions, programs, and policies that build upon community resources and strengths.

Warren/Conner Development Coaltion- Community Organizer
The Community Organizer will foster meaningful relationships with residents, neighborhood organizations, and other community stakeholders through several community engagement initiatives on Detroit’s Lower Eastside with a goal of building resident and local business leadership capacity and desire to lead transformation efforts. Projects include: the Eastside Farmers Market, the Eastside Walking Club, Walking Against Blight, the Lower Eastside Action Plan, the Eastside Community Outreach Corps, the Mack Avenue Business Association, the Conner Avenue Coalition To Upgrade our Street, and other community engagement initiatives as needed.
Warren/Conner Development Coalition- Market Master: Eastside Farmers Market
The Market Master will plan, develope, and implement weekly Eastside Farmers Markets with a goal of providing access to fresh and healthy food, promoting and encouraging entrepreneurial opportunities, and offering communal gathering place that fosters and enriches community relationships.
Detroit Youth Passages Research Assistant I- Senior Field Researcher
We are looking to hire 2-4 experienced and mature outreach workers with proven ability to negotiate high stress urban environments, like night clubs and areas of known prostitution, for a research project examining sexual vulnerability and youth in Detroit. Summer work will focus on carrying out a venue based survey among young adults ages 18-30 in several urban venues ranging from night clubs to areas of known street-based prostitution in Detroit. Thus, the ideal candidate will have experience working with youth and issues of sexuality in challenging urban environments.
